Emma is a warm and non-judgemental clinical psychologist who has experience in child and adolescent mental health settings in NSW health and in private practice. She has extensive experience supporting families with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. Emma works with a particular focus on family-based assessment and intervention and aims to support not just the young person but the system around them (parents, schools, other professionals).
At Kids and Co, Emma works with a diverse array of presentations, including anxiety, mood, OCD, early childhood challenges, functional difficulties, self-esteem, trauma. Her approach includes evidence-based interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), attachment-based interventions (COS, ABFT), and trauma-informed practice.
Emma is also aware of the role that parents/carers have in support of a young person, and the challenges that are inherent in the demands of parenting. Emma is open to working with parents/carers who experience the unique anxieties of caring for a young person with mental health struggles. Emma predominantly utilises the Parent Hope Project approach (based on Bowen Family Systems Theory) to support parents’ self-efficacy and resourcefulness in supporting their child/adolescent.
