Katherine McDowell

Katherine is a senior family systems clinician specialising in family therapy, parenting, child and adolescent mental health disorders, family of origin coaching and parent-child attachment work. Katherine is registered with AHPRA and Medicare. She is connected to the Family Systems Institute and has worked in child, adolescent and family mental health settings for the past 28 years.

Katherine’s special area of interest and experience is Family Therapy. She has extensive knowledge and experience about what families need to navigate the many challenges life can present. Over the years she has worked in the Public Health System in both tertiary and outpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Katherine has extensive knowledge in assessing and treating child and adolescent mental health disorders and has worked alongside some of Sydney’s most experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and Psychologists . She is adept at working with separated families including those within the Family Court system.

During the past 10 years Katherine has developed her interest in working with parents and focusing on the attachment relationship between parent and child. Katherine is very passionate about early intervention and the family unit. Katherine is now available solely in private practice here at Kids & Co Clinical Psychology Balmain and Blue Mountains locations.
